To Many Women Are Dying

Look I’ve heard it all… people try to slide the issue sideways with all kinds of crazy ways to water it down. But the reality is, too many women are dying. Simply, too many women are dying 🥹
I don’t care which way you look at it. 56 women already this year have lost their life in IPV related homicides and that’s not okay.
Think back to your Grade 4, Grade 5 and Grade 6 classrooms - and now wipe out all of the girls. Because that’s what’s happened this year alone. Those little girls grew up and fell in love with the wrong person.
All of those women who were loved by parents, sisters, brothers, children, friends... Just gone.
That’s the equivalent of what’s happened this year. And sadly, the year is far from over.
While we cannot bring any of those women back, we can make a stand in sisterhood. We can remind each other that we are strong, that we are capable and that we’re worth more. We can start conversations, we can call out shitty behaviour and we can certainly be a safe front for those who need it 🤍
We can actively remind anyone we can, that love should feel safe. And if it doesn’t, there’s a world of support to help them remove themselves as safely as possible… without the shame and isolation 🥹
Because we’re all in this together. No more sliding it under the rug.
